Meandering South for the Winter

We finally were able to “throw away the bowlines and set sail on the seas”…. With repairs completed we left the marina lifestyle to out ‘camping’ on our own.  It was a great 5 days… we found a delightful anchorage at Benaures Bay, Norman Island where we hung out for 3 nights.  We spent a day getting our heads around it all, a day snorkeling and frolicking with the fish and a day hiking the island.  We then ventured off and checked out another island and a couple of different bays.  It was truly picturesque and we could have certainly stayed….. water and power are all lasting well but we need to consider an additional charging system – still debating wind, solar or a small generator.  We have connected with a local electrician , who is coming to check out our inverter/charger this morning to provide some wisdom as it is a little bit of a mystery at this point as to how it is working (and we have no manuals).  We have been out of wi-fi connection the past week and returned to the great news that our registration has arrived‼‼  We are excited to hear the news so we will have to spend one more day in the marina arranging for the ‘official name change’ and then we are good to sail off to our heart’s content.   Probably heading to the US Virgin Island to do some provisioning and then back to the BVI’s to pick up Rob mid-February for a sail to St.Martin.

We’re still in Manzanillo. Another month and we’ll be back at Mabel Lake. It sounds like things are getting organized and settled for you two. Pretty soon you won’t even be thinking of Mabel lake. We are on Skype with our kids a lot. Let us know if you use it. Happy sailing!
